L.A. - 1: Ultimate L.A. Experience

Arriving at LAX and going to Hollywood, L.A. immediately impressed upon me as a urban sprawl, endless low rise blocks arranged in grids, occasionally intersected by one of the many freeways. I am not sure whether I decided I like this city or not, however, it is definitely something else than the compact European city or New York for that matter.
Last night a man got stabbed on the doorstep of the place I'm staying at. The stabber fled, while being chased by a helicopter. How ultimate can a L.A. experience be!

I will stay in L.A. for a month. I'll try to get some work done. Although I will certainly enjoy the weather, and perhaps I'll take a leave for San Francisco.
