Recognize these?

This one's not for those who've studied Chinese before. The first line are Chinese characters, the second line are the ancient pictographs the characters are derived from. So what do you think the characters mean? 

Pictographic characters represent some 5% of all Chinese characters. Most characters are combined pictographs, ideational, and/or phonetic. So, a bonus question, what does the combination of the first two characters mean?
