Today in China Daily: China needs to adapt one child policy

And if the China Daily says it... there's probably real change in the making.

The Chinese government is increasingly concerned over gender imbalance, the number of retirees, and the supply of workforce. Now researchers from Renmin University of China (Beijing) and Nankai University (Tianjin) are pleading for a revision of the policy which was introduced 30 years.

According to the government and many Chinese, the policy has been very succesful, but it needs adaptation after 30 years. Earlier this year the Shanghai goverment already revised the local policy to allow for two children for parents who are themselves one-child.
